Staff has been giving players who are actively working towards joining a particular covenant the ability to see the boards before they attain Status 1 in it since we all know that each covenant has their own rituals/trials to go through before you can be a legit 'whatever'.
Do you like/hate this idea?
Please explain your reasons...

I dislike this idea, unless they have purchased a merit (ie. Chorister). The reason is: they have invested nothing into the covenant. They are still 'courting' the covenant, so to speak, and can decide to 'back out' of joining with nothing purchased to say: I am dedicated to joining this covenant. The stuff posted on the boards is IC for the covenant only.
IF they choose to back out of the covenant, they have now heard stuff among that covenant that they ICly would not be told until they had status among that covenant.

Agree with Jaeger. Those getting ready to join, and have 0 Status, should not have access to the board.

I do not agree, that will cut people off from IC things with in the covenant that they are working to become a member of. If there is a meeting or whatever is going on and a +event is not made for it (Cause its happened before) then they miss out on it. I do not see a huge issue with them being on the board.

I believe that players should not have access to the boards.
There will be time when those with some Status want to keep their plotting away from the prying eyes of people merely vetting the Covenant, but want the rest of the invested Covenant members in the loop. Allowing non-invested members to look at the Board will make it less useful for informing invested members of important things.

Just wanted to throw out that if you don't allow Status 0 people to see the boards, it means that ghouls and new IC initiates without status cannot see the boards either. Perhaps the better solution is to have people with merits that allow them to hold "membership without status" (like being a ghoul of a member, Chorister, ect) to have those people have the Status (Covenant) 0 on their sheet. But in order to get that on their +sheet, they must prove they're eligible (either by a vote in of acceptance to a covenant, the merit purchase, ect).

I think that people who aren't yet joined/accepted into the covenant shouldn't have access, no.

Why are Kindred vetting the covenant being set with Status 0? Either they have status or they don't. Status 0 (on the sheet) should be reserved for ghouls only. As for those who have purchased merits... that's a different ballgame, they have at least invested and put XP towards the covenant.

I've only seen it happen a few times, but when someone has purchased the merit that allows them to be a part of a group without being a part of it, they still needed to be vetted. Though perhaps it's just that those players were looking for actual RP about it and wanted to build IC relationship rather than just buying something with XP. And note, this is just player side that I have seen this, not staff side.
Status 0 seems to me not an IC tool but an OOC mechanic ones that allows for viewing of the board with appropriate ties. Restricting viewing to Status 1 would exclude ghouls and people with appropriate merits. I can't say I care much either way, but people should probably look at it for what it is.
