<<Ok, Hastur/Amanda here. This is the log of the meeting that happened. All I've done is remove stuff like the *New Activity* things from my client, uses of who, +where and +bbscan etc. Everything else is in place. All the poses and comments that start with "You say..." are (as you'd expect) what I, Hastur/Amanda, said.>>
=============
Izrieal says, "Id kinda like to see and build off what others say too though so I dont know, might just have to tell you tomorrow if someone logs"
Ophelia says, "No, I cannot. I'm on a phone and I'm jumping between meetings. I have no way to log."
Kougyoku noddles.
Ophelia grins.
Kougyoku says, "Cool, I can log and upload it to google."
You say, "I can log too, if need be."
Kougyoku says, "Much appreciated Hastur"
Kougyoku says, "I'd rather you take care of it, I'm at work atm"
You say, "Righto, I'll log then."
Izrieal says, "Kk thanks"
Izrieal says, "then I can just get to it all tomorrow"
Izrieal says, "I have class tonight"
You say, "Sure."
You say, "I've heard people say they can't attend, or can only atted for a set length of time."
Kougyoku says, "Izzy has some stuff to say, so if you guys wanna start now, I'm cool with that."
Izrieal says, "I might have stuff Im just undecided until I know more"
Kougyoku says, "Stand by for .. .15 min. Going to warm up my lunch."
Izrieal says, "I dont think Id have the time to psyically staff but I have some story ideas to run by for the STs, but I dont want to say them here."
Izrieal says, "Oh I would really suggest knocking the God Machine crape off because no ghosts is annoying"
You say, "How do you mean?"
Kougyoku says, "Back."
You say, "Wb"
Izrieal says, "I mean no ghost eating god machine"
Izrieal says, "and more spirit action"
Cthulhu did feel there wasn't enough tentacle action.
Kougyoku says, "Ok, lets get started. I think this will be as much audience as I can muster. Might be a few stragglers."
You say, "There may be more. You're starting, what, 35 minutes before the announced time?"
Hastur is assuming it's still before 1pm Pacific.
Ophelia says, "30 minutes."
Kougyoku says, "Perhaps. Izzy won't have much time if we wait though. I want to give her the time she needs (and everyone else) to speak their minds."
You say, "So this'd be the pre-meeting?"
You say, "But yeah, I don't want anyone left out."
Ophelia says, "Issy, are you talking about the story ideas as in new metaplot?"
Kougyoku chortles. "Fee is right. 30 minutes"
Izrieal says, "Yeah"
You say, "Hey Time."
Ophelia says, "Are we keeping the moderation to the topics listed on the +bbpost or such? "
You say, "*Tim"
Kougyoku says, "We should or the meeting would go on for ages. AGES!"
You say, "The Agenda on the bbpost are the main points that need covering."
Kougyoku says, "But we do have 30 minutes now so I can give my $0.02 about metaplot."
You say, "Othertopics could be talked about after, if need-be."
Izrieal says, "I might be back around 8 or 9 for a bit too"
Kougyoku says, "We wouldn't have so much as an overarching "meta plot" in the Storytelling framework I am proposing."
Izrieal says, "what about the god machine stuff, gone?"
Ophelia says, "The God Machine goes with the Chronicles of Darkness (CofD) / GMC / 2E rules set. Removing the God Machine in any capacity is going to render several types of plot line, and mechanics, useless. It has a serious impact on mortals, many of whose 'super' mortals are derived from its existence. It also means removing angels."
You say, "Hey Fayte"
Fayte says, "heya, im at work so ill be slow/spammed but im here! "
Kougyoku says, "Instead, we would break it up into X players per storyteller, and each storyteller would have a module. These modules are smaller, easier to digest mini-stories, or "adventures", like you'd have in a Tabletop game. The difference here is the results of those modules get folded into THIS persistant world of Kingsmouth. So it's like we're telling the Meta Plot as its happening. You guys, the Players, are writing the Meta Plot."
You say, "Yeah, I was going to bring Chronicles up as part of the "VtR or V20?" bit."
Izrieal says, "And I think definitely whole new characters and story"
Timothy says, "How restrictive will the modules be? How will they interact with other modules?"
<OOC> Fayte says, "and wow you guys started early "
<OOC> Izrieal says, "yeah cuz i dont have much time"
Kougyoku snickers and should have waited to answer the million questions.
You say, "Koug wanted to fo a pre-meeting thing, as Izzy can't stay long."
Fayte says, "ahs okay"
<OOC> Izrieal says, "i have all the time in the world tomorrow >>"
Sand says, "Maybe set up a player comment/question thing for those who will be early or late"
You say, "Ok, I'm logging now, fyi"
<OOC> Fayte says, "love you hastur!"
Kougyoku says, "The modules would interact with each other at the end definately, because Staff would need to merge the results of the modules into the persistant world and resolve any conflicts. Storytellers would also need to be abreast (during the proposed planning meeting in Week 1 of the sprint) of other Storyteller's modules. Storytellers could work together to create a collaborative module, or they could have independently standing modules."
You say, "I love you too Fayte!"
You say, "Tbh, I don'r really like the sound of these modules. Might be because of terminology, or because they're new to me, but I'm not sure they'll work well."
Kougyoku says, "If, for example, you have a group of 7 players in your module. You need "Alucard" to come in to your module, but he is not part of your group. I think it should be to the individual Storyteller's discretion as to if he or she allows Alucard into the plotline."
Izrieal pages: who were you on the old game?
Kougyoku says, "You played any tabletop Hastur?"
You paged Izrieal with 'Amanda, PC, Hastur, staff.'
You say, "Yeah."
You paged Izrieal with 'Amanda was my PC, Hatur was my staff account.'
Kougyoku says, "Then in D&D (or in Vampire) a GM/ST has an adventure they're bringing you on of some sort; or a pre-written story they're telling. That's a "module""
Sand says, "They tried something pretty similar on the new dark metal too I think."
Fayte says, "its to help facilitate the whole 'bizillion players in one story' issue, whereas two storytellers working together can help out, one to help with the 'thinkers/invesgators' and other with the hulk smash yupe pcs etc"
You say, "I've seen other places do that, but calls them "Story arcs""
Kougyoku says, "Having a bazillion players in a single story is nigh impossible to manage."
Sand says, "There are assigned sts for groups."
Kougyoku says, "That's why I want to assign 6,7,8 (8 is pushing it) players per ST into groups."
Sand says, "How do you decide who goes to what st?"
You say, "One thing that concerns me, what happens to a group if their ST can't, or won't, log onto the game? Like, if they lose net access, or experience computer failure?"
Kara says, "Yeah, it's a story arc, but instead of having a staffer run a story arc for a friend or one player being in every story arc imaginable, you'll be assigning (however that is done) players into the arcs/modules. It will make sure that plot gets distributed equally and everyone is involved, if it works correctly."
Kougyoku says, "There's a reason D&D and Vampire groups run in those numbers -- it works well for the players involved (Everyone has a chance to play and is not waiting forever for their turn) and for the STs as it's easier to manage."
Fayte says, "and you can focus on the skill level/type of char"
Sand says, "How do you get the sts, and decide who goes to what person?"
<OOC> Fayte says, "stoopid wifi"
You say, "Hey guys."
Kougyoku says, ":spins the lottery wheel. "That hasn't been decided yet. What I would like to see is the groups broken up and reformed between modules so you don't get stuck playing with the same 7 folks every time. It forces you to RP with folks you normally wouldn't."
Kougyoku says, "To your question, Hastur: You run the same risk no matter which way you cut the cake."
Fayte says, "i presume the sts will ask who's interested in the plot, figure out their strengths and go from there fir happy compatable pairings?"
Kougyoku says, "A suggestion was made to me that the Sherriff help wrangle interested parties into story modules."
Sand says, "I'm not sure I see the logistics when an st bombs out or new players join?"
Fayte says, "the st should be able to adjust to add or remove as interest dictates"
Sand says, "Do you add them to preexisting stories or start them with someone else and how do you make sure there's equal activity or opportunities across the board"
You say, "Well that's kinda shitty for the players. If they lose their ST mid-arc, they'd be SOL."
Kara says, "You could have a head ST-Wiz that takes over, or if you're meeting regularly or tracking progress someplace another ST could jump in."
Fayte says, "and if the st bombs out, (my opinion and hopeful thoughts) everything thus far ran will be logged elsewhere so new sts will have an idea of whats up"
Fayte says, "accountability via paperwork on the backend"
Kara says, "New players shouldn't be much of an issue, TT games weave in new players all the time."
Fayte says, "which is what we were...erm...what was trying to be started before we closed"
Kougyoku says, "Yes, there's definately meetings in place in the framework I am proposing. This uses an Agile Scrum framework, which tracks each story module per task, players involved, things being done, results recorded... All of it is transparent in the Game Secrets."
Kougyoku says, "Work in progress:"
Kougyoku says, "https://goo.gl/cLCqPd"
You say, "Question, what happens when multiple groups run the same module? Can players of Group 1 talk about what's happening, icly, to players of Group 3?"
Kougyoku says, "Ideally that should not be the case in our planning meeting. Storytellers would tell each other what modules they plan to run."
Fayte says, "what should not be the case?"
You say, "Multiple groups/STs running the same module at the same time."
Fayte says, "ohs but we can talk about it icly to generate rp right?"
Timothy says, "So. What you're saying is you're going to create a pool of smaller and smaller RP groups who's stories may or may not have a greater impact on the environment, encouraging niche characters and cliques who go into groups together which is more exclusionary than inclusionary."
Kougyoku says, "You beat me to the punch Hastur; but sizing should be kept in mind so it doesn't get F*ing huge"
Kougyoku says, "And unwieldy."
Fayte says, "and those jobs sent to the st in charge of that story"
Fayte says, "remember not everyone wants plot rp, some just want bar type or ts or political stuff and want nothing to do with plot"
Fayte says, "and all these stories are going to impact the environment no matter what happens "
Kougyoku says, "Not exactly. What I'm saying is I'm creating a pool of smaller RP groups -- that part you have right -- But you missed the point where I said at the end, the results of the module ("Groups whose stories") would indeed fold into the persistant world."
Rosaline says, "If you can't talk to those outside the group, it sounds like each group is it's own game within itself."
You say, "Yeah, I'm not really buying into the module thing. It sounds like you're trying to turn the place into a clubhouse for multiple Vampire games."
Kara says, "I think the exclusionary/inclusionary aspect can be determined on the choosing mechanism and the type of plot. I think that sometimes people get assigned to plots randomly and their 'group' doesn't. I think sometimes you let groups of friends play together. I think you write plots that weave together so eventually groups need to talk to each other for the best solution."
Timothy says, "The world isn't persistent if it doesn't change until after a module ends."
Fayte says, "may i offer an example?"
Sand says, "If you want to be an open source venue where anyone can run their own vampire chronicle that's cool but label it as such."
You say, "Sure, Fayte."
Timothy says, "So what if I'm part of Group B, and I think 'I want to sabotage Group A's efforts with my Underworld Allies 5" how does that work into your mini table top groups?"
Timothy says, "And say I want to frame someone in Group C for what my Allies did."
Timothy says, "That might now involve 3 possible Storytellers"
Kougyoku says, "Hm, a fine question that I hadn't considered Timothy. Thank you for bringing it up."
<OOC> Rebekah says, "Well, as far as I understood, that all groups are formed randomly once per month. So, one month you are in the plots with one people, and the next month with others."
Fayte says, "st1 makes a plot about tentacle creatures in the bay eating people, group 1a researches whats up with that, group 2a goes to kills it... meanwhile groups 1a and 2a yap around the world and people hear about it and freak out which generates rp in the senate, we need more precautions, more hounds, more whatever! rp everywhere...."
<OOC> Rebekah says, "It has advanatges, because it does not allow people to just be stuck in roleplay with their BFFs."
Kara says, "I don't see why the storytellers can't sit down with whoever is overseeing the STs and talk about what happens and then resolve."
Kougyoku asks the Scribe (whomever that is) to take that question down for later as we near the actual Agenda time.
<OOC> Rebekah says, "Because you may end up in a group with strangers, and give a chance to new people."
You say, "Bouncing of TImothy's comments, what if Vampire Bill decides, "YOu know what? Fuck the plot, I'm going to spend the rest of my unlife destroying Debonair Rival, as he didn't give my protoge (sp?) a good review in the sunday papers!""
Fayte says, "meanwhile st2 mortal sphere gets to run stories about new pr on trying to lure people back to the beach after, unbeknowest to them a tentacle beastie was eating people"
Sand says, "Or end up w/a group of people you have nothing in common with"
Rosaline says, "Sorry but it sounds like your saying with this idea 'we tell you who to rp with' What if one of those people in this group we KNOW is out to take you down for whatever reason?"
Sand says, "including timezone"
Fayte says, "you arent forced into these groups..its all voluntary and asked before?"
Rebekah says, "I am just saying that the idea has some advantages too, because I do remember what happened before..."
Kougyoku says, "That suggestion, Fayte, brings people into cliques"
Fayte says, "if youre bored and want to hulk smash something and st3 wants to run a kill plot...you say yes pick me! and do it"
You say, "One of the aspects that made me really like this place was the fact that were was stuff I could do behind the scenes, with OSS, as my being in the UK mostly precludes me from joining plots."
Sand says, "are you going to use anything like forums or something to keep everything documented so st 1, 2, 3 knows what's going on? seems like a pretty difficult challenge"
Timothy says, "this will be very staff heavy"
Fayte says, "yes sand, thats what was being worked on when we closed"
Fayte says, "since there was no documentation "
Fayte says, "so when sts quit...they didnt have stuff to go on"
Kougyoku says, "I need an actual Agile PM system to help with the heavy lifting"
Sand blinks
Fayte says, "sorry if im misunderstanding stuffs and koug you arent speaking english "
Sand says, "you want an Agile project mgmt system like... on the back end or physically built into the game?"
Rebekah missed logs on Kingsmouth...
Kougyoku says, "Agile (A type of project management system) Scrum framework. Sorry to confiuse you."
You say, "Also, what happens to a group if one player is unable to log in? Like, I'm in the UK, what happens if I'm put into a group where everyone else in the US?"
Fayte says, "thanks "
Timothy says, "Koug. Who else do you have interested in being your co-staff head because you clearly have no idea how to setup or run a mush. And you need someone who does."
Kougyoku says, "Excuse me?"
Sand says, "Er. Why? It's not product development nor software development. How are you going to define a sprint in this role?"
Fayte says, "all that should be taken into account when forming these rp groups"
Fayte says, "timothy, please dont be rude, txt is not the best way of communicating full thoughts, be patient"
Izrieal says, "I think groups could work if we utlilize forums, and maybe not use random roulette to make them"
Kougyoku says, "Thank you Fayte."
Fayte says, "it wont be like 'meet your match'"
Izrieal says, "RPing with others should be encouraged but there are issues of certain people not working out, I never had an issue with rping with 'everyone' without any thing like that"
Gregory blinks, "I'm late to the party, can someone volunteer to page me the gist of this 'group' idea?"
Sand says, "I'm not really seeing where the agile approach is going to work. could you please expand on that? is it from a storytelling mode for the sts? Where you set dates for certain achievements in plot to be accomplished? Or is it strictly for monitoring code and game development?"
Timothy believe I communicated a full thought. Koug has presented ideas. They are poor ideas. Ideas that are not suitable for a mush. Earlier he was showing us MUD rules as a rules foundation for the game. He has no working knowledge of the game of Vampire, GMC, or its systems. And now he's discussing using a SCRUM system as a form of player management. So. My question then is, as a project manager, who do you have with the skills and knowledge on your team - to cover these gaps. Where you do not have them? Because you clearly need someone who has them.
You say, "Gregory we started a pre-meeting for Izzy's sake. I'll page you info."
Fayte says, "mainly i think what he is going for is for the big plots where rolls will be needed to help keep it tidy and simple and give everyone in that group time to shine instead of being number 10 in 15 overwhelming"
You paged Gregory with 'We've been talking about Koug's module idea. Gimme a sec to look over what's been said so I can give youa run down.'
Kara says, "Tim, I've actually talked to several people who have been MUSHing for a long time who have had similar ideas. I think they're different and haven't been tried yet, and they may be poor ideas, but I don't think you can know for certain until someone tries them."
Rebekah says, "I do not see your arguments, Timothy. Everyone can be critics, but when you criticise someone, you say: I do not like this idea of yours and instead I would offer to do this."
Fayte says, "correct me if im wrong but like izzy said, rp will still be easy, we will still have political intruige and an oss system (i hope) and using our 5 allies to fuck someone over, but for big rolling plots, groupings make more sense for ease and focus"
Izrieal says, "Id still want that laurel system and city status thing"
Fayte says, "it was mismanaged before, people got upset because they were ignored in their groups or cut out of their groups or didnt have anything to do in their group becayse they arent (combat/brainy/social types"
Rosaline says, "If the idea is JUST for plots and not every day RP it's a great idea."
Izrieal says, "The reason I cant get into other games is there is literally nothing to aim for"
Gregory says, "I'll say from the flip side, that the more this game drifted towards 'go check trello' the more it killed RP. Which is not to anyones advantage. Agile sounds like just another management tool along those lines, but it sounds like now it would be a requirement to be involved. That would be more or less a killer."
Fayte says, "exactly rosa"
You paged Gregory with 'Set # of players per ST, effects of modules would be folded into the persistant world once completed. A lot of the discussion is abotu how it'll be implimented.'
Rosaline says, "Back when Gregory and the group went after the strix that took down River it was great. We had three groups and everyone did different parts of that set up."
Fayte says, "what rosa said"
Fayte says, "use that example"
Fayte says, "for plots"
Gregory says, "Thanks Rosa, I killed myself and a couple staff members setting it up That was actually my proposal, which I didn't have a chance to put into writing, sorry Koug."
Kougyoku says, "With a game as large as this one, we need /something/ to use as a system to help manage the story modules."
Rosaline says, "I was hearing that it was for every day plots, not game changing things. Things that happen on the same day sort of thing but couldn't all be run at the same time."
Fayte says, "koug, a forum is fine, i had it all neat and tidy and then we closed "
Kougyoku says, "I simply proposed something I am familiar with and am open to constructive feedback."
Fayte says, "no reason for pcs to use the forum, just the sts so they dont have another 'check trello' to worry over"
Elias says, "I think you need to be clear that what you are referring to are backend staff tools and methodologies to manage plot, not player-facing things. The players don't CARE how it is organized by and large... nor should they have to."
Gregory says, "Koug, the crux of my 'suggestion' is that basically the office of 'Sheriff' also acts as a plot coordinator, working with staff directly to establish 'missions' for their plots, and hook people into those missions."
Kougyoku says, "I had brought that up as a matter of fact Gregory."
Kougyoku says, "That's absolutely right Elias."
Kara says, "Greg, I could see that working, Greg, but then that PC might have to stay out of most plots, just to be fair?"
Gregory says, "I was working through that plot as a fix to the massive fuckball of messup that the TP system was, when things shut down. I still think it's the best plan."
Gregory says, "Kara, they don't need to be out of the plots, they just need to be making sure others are in them."
Fayte says, "the st could be responsible for 'leaking' some plot material to the sheriff or those who are rolling for investigatin, wtc"
Gregory says, "The idea that a person can't be 'part of plots' and still 'help others get in plots' is ludicrous. The idea that every person should be involved in every plot is also ludicrous."
Fayte says, "agreed"
Kougyoku says, "I also believe that 'every person involved in every plot' is unrealistic. Makes things way too hard to manage."
Gregory says, "The Sheriff should be the defacto funnel through which plot is moved, and a decent player in the position will pull as many people in as possible. It's what I intended to go for with Greg, and take that on as my way of helping here."
Kara says, "Oh! I'm not saying every person should be part of every plot. I do worry though that if the Sheriff helps organize and is a part of plot, other PCs might grumble that he gets the best plot and only picks his friend and cliques and cheating and all that WORA stuff."
Sand says, "devolve it onto the Primogen or whatever you have going on"
Sand says, "another angle is simply keep that particular role an NPC (sheriff that is)"
Gregory says, "Sand, NPC's just mean 'staff does it' and don't fix anything."
Rosaline says, "Staff gets way too overwelmed and a NPC won't be around when it's needed."
Gregory says, "It just creates a new problem."
Fayte says, "anyone who is looking can get dribbles of plot info "
Kougyoku says, "We are also getting WAY off agenda here and need to get wrangled back onto our main points of discussion. "
Kougyoku says, "So, I'd like to start off with "What are we going to do with the old characters""
Izrieal says, "I really want to know how kingsmouth is working like..a continuation? Or..."
Rosaline says, "Can I say something about that write up you have up Koug?"
Kougyoku says, "Absolutely."
Fayte says, "fresh start, i vote delete everyone"
Rosaline says, "The thing this game has going for it is the FRIENDLYNESS and open-ness of staff. I looked at that write up you made and the only thing I saw that I didn't like right off the top 'keeping who staff is as secret' That is just asking for problems. Not only after a while will it get out but it doesn't help with cooperation or friendlyness."
Elias says, "I also think everyone here needs to be clear: The game that was RFK is dead. This won't be RFK. Its a new mush."
Gregory says, "If you're deleting everyone, make a new theme."
Kougyoku says, "Let's revisit that when we get to Item #5 Rosaline "
Rosaline says, "Ok"
Fayte says, "people are going to figure out who is staff anyways and people freak out dwhen they are rping with staff...whupsy ill shoosh"
Gregory says, "If it's RfK, then I want to continue my character and my personal stories as best is possible. You went through a lot to gain the permission to use RfK. If you're NOT using RfK, and we can't use our old characters, then you should rename everything on this mush and stop presenting this as a reboot, and call it what it is - Kougyoko wants to open a new game."
Fayte says, "if the same xp spending limits are in place it 'should' help the huge spread from new pcs to old at least"
Izrieal says, "I did like my sheet.."
Kougyoku says, "I think you make an excellent point Gregory. I have no desire to open a new game. Instead, I want to rekindle the magic that made this place go 'round, and present a friendly environment for (real) people to escape their reality and slip into the shoes of the political intrigue that is Vampire."
You say, "An idea I had, that I shared withKoug I believe, was to have an Event happen that wipes out the Kindred society of Kingsmouth. There's a timejump, and the game would open to people, andthe first plot(s) of the game would be figuring out what exactly happened, and re-establishing the All Night Society."
Kara says, "Koug, that brings up my question, what was it, in your mind, that made Kingsmouth special/different?"
Fayte says, "i like fayte, alot, but she should be dead due to st cheating she didnt die and that pissed people off so thats my personal two cents, she wont be around in the new game regardless because of that negativity revolving around that incident"
Izrieal says, "I just need to know are we making new characters, or keeping old ones, or using old ones but with clean slate? And what happened or what didn't happen"
Gregory says, "If you want to relight the fires of Kingsmouth, then yeah, I want to bring Gregory in. Hastur, if the first thing that 'happens' on this game is that all of the characters I care about are dead and gone, yeah, thanks but no."
Kougyoku says, "I said something like this once already -- I don't remember my exact words. It was to... Rebekah."
Rosaline has a possible idea.
You say, "That's why I wanted to bring it up, Gregory, so I could get a response."
You say, "Yes, Rosaline?"
Rosaline says, "A sort of event, like a tsunami(sp). People that wanted to keep characters could get warned and have time to leave and people that don't want to come back could have been taken out. All NPC's could have been taken out."
Rosaline says, "And it could have been some other disaster that did it. Lose power, mass fire. Something that lets some get out of dodge and some die trying."
Izrieal says, "You're not going to get a tsunami in new england"
Rosaline says, "Thats why I said some other event."
Gregory says, "Great Old One awakened and ate some of them. "
Izrieal says, "The prince of fear escaped"
Cthulhu approves!
Rosaline chuckles
<OOC> Izrieal says, "I wouldnt know what direction to go character wise atm"
Kougyoku says, "Kingsmouth is special because people give a damn. We have players on this game that not only are active, but actively engaged in quality Roleplay. A place that cultures interaction with your fellow player and enough stuff going on to keep you hooked."
Gregory says, "There are dozens of ways to wrap the story and selectively kill off characters that want to be killed off, while leaving other characters. If you want to set a 'xp cap on returning characters' to normalize a top end for those returning xp wise, and you can't use more xp than that, that also is fine. It lets people 'scale back' if needed, and also gives a good chance to do character sheet cleanup if there's any problems."
Gregory says, "But the biggest thing about Kingsmouth, to me, is that the players are so invested in the city and their characters. Those suggestions kill those ideas."
Kougyoku says, "I think I kind of like the idea that's going around here -- Old players who wish to return "as-is" are invited to. However you can create a new player if you want to."
<OOC> Izrieal says, "I cant see Izzy returning work to well...but I feel like w/e else I make would be the same thing with a different PB so"
Gregory says, "Iz, it seems to me someone like Iz always rises to the top in the Nosf anyway, so that's okay. "
Fayte says, "makes sense greg"
Rosaline says, "If Izzy came back she would have to face the Boston/Steel stuff. Kinda hard to say she wouldn't?"
Gregory says, "And tying up Iz's story can play into the meta of what happened to the city perhaps. So could Faytes story. And anyone else that reasonably 'needs' to be gone for whatever reason you feel they sohuld be."
Timothy says, "Izzy was framed anyways"
Kougyoku says, "Alright, care to move on to the next subject?"
You say, "Did we decide what we were doing about how we were going to continue things?"
Izrieal says, "Im just saying itd be weird to make something new if its sorta going to be the same just dont call me out on it <<"
Fayte says, "hugs izzy"
Kougyoku says, "I think Gregory has an excellent point. Any "old" character that wishes to return "as-is" -- is welcome to. If you'd like to create a new character, you can do that as well."
Gregory says, "Koug, I'm on a time limit, so I want to address something if that's okay?"
Kougyoku says, "Go ahead Gregory"
Izrieal says, "then again if theres no roofie then fuck izzy ><"
<OOC> Izrieal says, ">>*"
<OOC> Izrieal says, "stupid eyes"
Gregory says, "I'm NOT trying to be offensive when I say this, but frankly, I don't know you from Adam. I was here for almost a year, which isn't a huge amount of time but even so, I never once saw you. I barely heard of you. And now, I've heard a lot of worrisome things about you, which I am not in a position to judge and am not casting stones over. However, they do raise a very real concern for me before I'd invest a crap ton of time in RfK again.
"I want to know what sort of guarantees we're going to have that the game will be here in two weeks if we buy in on this and put the effort into restarting the game. I'd like to see an established 'chain of custody' for the game so that no one person pulls the plug again. Hell, I will pay the bills for the game and guarantee it myself if need be. But you are asking for a huge leap of faith from people who don't know you, and I want to know what you're going to do to provide assurances that we're not all throwing our time, effort, energy and hope down the pisser."
Izrieal says, "Thats valid too"
Izrieal says, "Since everyone game I've apped into after this crash has been like...a waste of time"
Rosaline laughs a little... pos's.
Izrieal says, "Id like to have something thats going to be worth it and have places to strive for again"
You say, "I'm with Gregory on this. Don't mean it to cast aspersion on you, but I'd also like to know what process would be in place to make sure the game continued in the off-chance something happened to you, either by accident or intentionally."
Fayte says, "and not npcs own everything "
Rosaline says, "BTW, is someone logging?"
You say, "I am."
Fayte says, "hasturnis"
Rosaline says, "Cool"
You say, "I'll stick it on google docs, pastebin or somewhere."
Rosaline pages: Just mail me the addy for it? I'll not find itotherwise. I don't know how to use google docs or pastebin.
Izrieal says, "I have some story ideas to write up to send to whoever is staffing in the near future too for help with what happened to KM and stuff"
You paged Rosaline with 'Will do. I'll also be sticking the link onto the bboard.'
Rosaline pages: OK! I have someone who will want to read it but he's not been on in a few days.
Kougyoku says, "I'll tell you the same thing I told Rebekah. I can't give you any guarantees or promises. That leads to expectations, which leads to disappointment. Every time. I don't even promise anything to my wife; mostly because I know life is far too variable and I'd be likely to break my promise. Now I don't know what you've heard. But with that said; I will reiterate that I want to be able to strive for having this game be a positive environment for people to relax and play in as well as foster a engaging Roleplay environment. If you are concerned about the server; Becca's friend is still hosting the place. I'm looking at an alternative option in case of emergency like you mentioned, which has was established in 1987 and is still running to this day. I've been a paying member there for more than 10 years, so I have no worries about it going down anytime soon."
You paged Rosaline with 'Pastebin is read-only, so it's a case of "1. visit page. 2. Read. 3. Leave." Google docs is like an online Microsoft office, except whoever visits it can read and alter it.'
Gregory says, "No, what I'm worried about is this guy I just met either flaking out, or getting mad and quitting. And what I want to know is, from the get go, that we don't have all our eggs in your basket. I'd like to see a 'Second in Command' that is established in mush rules as retaining the server in case of you quitting. I have no doubts in the server itself, but I'm leery of the stranger coming to take over RfK."
Rosaline can vouch that he's been around almost from the start. Maybe even from the start but I have a swiss cheese memory.
Rosaline says, "He's still got the mail I sent him in October of 2014. "
Gregory says, "'Around' and 'here' are very different things."
You say, "Koug, I can understand that you can't make promises. However, all I'm expecting is a way for someone to pick up the reigns in the event that somethign happens to you. Eg, what if (heaven forbid) you're in an accident and slip into a coma? We'd need a policy for when you're unable to login, and someone can step up as Stand-in Kougyoku."
Rosaline had a suggestion towards that.
Kougyoku says, "Right now, there is none. I understand you just met me, but my code runs quite a lot of RfK as it stands. And you're right, Rosaline. Becca and I started building this place in October 2014, opening in Jan 2015."
Rosaline says, "What if we had two Koug's, one as a backup in case RL takes one of those head hancho's out for a time?"
Izrieal says, "I think we need at least two if not three people who can run it"
Rosaline says, "Thought it was earlier then that, because when I sent you the job info the game had already been open 10ish months."
Izrieal says, "In case someones on vaca, someone quits, or w/e else could happen"
Kougyoku says, "There was a previous codebase."
Kougyoku says, "Actually, my bad."
Kougyoku says, "I got the years off by 1"
Kougyoku says, "I Created: Tue Oct 29 09:55:58 2013"
<OOC> Izrieal says, "yeah I was here 2014"
Gregory says, "No, guys - I'm not saying 'coheads' because that's a fuckball of a mess. I just want an established 'No Nuke Button' and if Koug quits admin x steps up and takes over the reins. There has to be one person that is the final authority for a game to work. For a company to work. For anything to work."
Rosaline agrees with the 'No Nuke Button' Logging in to a post 'game closed' was heart wrenching and I told Gregory a bit ago, just being here at this has me in tears.
Kougyoku says, "I agree with you Gregory. And I'm not going to nuke the place. Far from. That's why the heck I even posted a notice asking around if you guys were interested in returning."
You say, "I'm not saying coheads, Gregory, just an account that can step in to run the place, or keep it ticking over, if/when Koug is unavailable after a pre-set length of time (eg 2 weeks, a month...)."
Izrieal says, "So then we get someone like that"
Fayte squishes rosa in two
Rosaline bleeds
Fayte says, "well"
Rosaline grins
Kougyoku says, "Staffing is going to take a while though. I do need staff. New staff. Going to take a while to find The One (unless you're Neo. Then you're already The One)"
Gregory says, "Koug, it's something I want you to think about, because what's in place to guarantee there's a game if you bail or get mad, is going to be a huge part of whether or not I (and I imagine a LOT of others) are ever stepping foot back here again."
Fayte says, "what we were trying to do before we closed was have a section on the forum that could be logged into like 3 people max with the password, which held the passwords/addresses/contacts of who owns what/what to do in a crash, etc"
Fayte says, "it was a pain in the ass...remember when the wiki went down for nearly a week? noone knew how to get it back up"
Kougyoku says, "I need to work for a while. "
Rosaline says, "You didn't talk to the right person dear."
Izrieal says, "Things just need to be better documented and passed on is all"
Izrieal says, "I dont have time to be running things but I wouldnt mind helping with back-stage things"
Kougyoku says, "Sorry to call this meeting a little short, but I gotta duck out."
You say, "Righto, Koug"
Fayte says, "cya koug"
Kougyoku says, "Thanks for coming in everyone."
Gregory says, "I have to go to a meeting as well, sorry, thanks folks."
Gregory has disconnected.
You say, "Thanks everyone."
Fayte says, "i cant believe i had enough of a slow day at work to be on all this time, phew"
Izrieal says, "Fayte help me with character ideas soon"
Fayte says, "okay heh"
You say, "So, how are people feeling now?"
Fayte says, "i'm ready to work "
Fayte says, "after i find my damned mouse and finish moving"
Izrieal says, "Just pondering"
Rosaline shrugs... need to go make dinner.
Rosaline pages Hastur and Riles: Hastur, Riles is who needs the log.
You paged Riles and Rosaline with 'Thanks. '
From afar, Riles is confused.. but.. <<Email redacted during editing>> - if you need an email
You paged Riles with 'What're you confused about?'
Riles pages: The entire process.. I'm just coming in.. I've been away for a bit
Riles pages: so, place is moving, and you guys are going to try to set it back up..is my jist
You paged Riles with 'Ah, ok.'
<OOC> Izrieal says, "Alright Im off to class"
You say, "Have fun!"
Fayte says, "im fighting solder"
You paged Riles with 'First off, we're not moving, we're staying here.'
You paged Riles with 'Secondly, we've just had a meeting discussing what to do going forward.'
You paged Riles with 'I've logged it, and will be sending the log round for those that missed it.'
Riles pages: Awesome.
You say, "Ok, I'm off. Log'll be up as soon as possible."
<<End of Log>>
=============
